Piano Studio Policy

ATTENDANCE :  The instructor sets aside a special time to devote her attention and lavish her musical wisdom upon the student. Please be courteous and arrive for lessons in a timely manner with all necessary materials and music.  Lessons are conducted in the teacher’s home.

MAKEUP LESSONS :  Absences due to illness, accident, or emergency are excused with 24 hours advance notice.  Lessons missed due to family vacations are excused provided notification is given a month in advance.  It is the student’s responsibility to sign up for a makeup lesson time if desired.

TEACHER ABSENCES :  Should the teacher miss lessons due to illness or other commitments, lessons can be rescheduled.

PRACTICE :  It is recommended to have the piano in a quiet place removed from any  distractions.  Students are to practice five days out of the week at a minimum.

LESSON TERMINATION :  Students must give the teacher one month’s notice before terminating lessons. If tuition is unpaid, lessons may be discontinued.

TUITION AND PAYMENT :  Each half-hour lesson is $20. Payment options include paying tuition weekly, due at the time of the lesson, or monthly, due in full at the first lesson of the month.  Cash, personal checks, and Paypal are accepted.  Unexcused absences may not receive credit.  Any pre-paid tuition for an excused absence may be applied toward a lesson the following month if a make-up lesson is not scheduled.  Costs for music books and materials are covered by the student.  Fees may be subject to change at the beginning of each new teaching year.

PARENT PARTICIPATION :  Parents may attend and quietly observe lessons once a month.  Parents may be requested not to attend if the parent’s presence alters the quality of the lesson.  Parents are asked to encourage students and to be active participants during piano practice at home.  The teacher may often be unable to discuss student progress or parent concerns before or after the lesson due to other lesson times.  The teacher can be contacted via email or phone to discuss these matters.
